About the Ride Stories

The Ride Stories feature on the Ather app was designed to enhance the post-ride experience for Ather's electric scooter users. It leverages ride data to create engaging, shareable narratives, fostering a sense of community and reinforcing Ather’s commitment to enhance performance in the world on electric vehicles

The goal of this project was to transform raw ride data into an intuitive, visually appealing, and interactive format, allowing users to reflect on their rides, celebrate milestones, and share experiences with others. By introducing storytelling and gamification elements, the feature sought to create a stronger emotional connection between riders and their journeys.

Problem

1

How might we design a seamless and visually engaging feature that motivates users to share their ride experiences with their community?

2

How might we represent the users ride data in an intuitive, easily digestible format that inspires users to reflect on and celebrate their journeys?

Who is it for?

Auto-Enthusiasts

Passionate about two-wheelers, these users crave high performance, detailed metrics, and an immersive riding experience.

The Adventurers

Thrill-seekers who value both durability and range, always looking for opportunities to explore new terrains and push the boundaries of their EV’s capabilities. They enjoy testing their vehicle’s performance, seeking out adventures that challenge both their skills and the vehicle's limits.

Efficiency- seekers

Practical users who focus on getting the most out of their ride in terms of range and savings, motivated by a desire to be eco-friendly and commute more cost-effectively.

Understanding motivations

Through our user research analysis, we identified key insights into why users were motivated to check their ride information. Our goal was to explore ways to make this experience not only more engaging but also delightful, enhancing overall user satisfaction.

New and improved - Ride Stories

Visualising and Sharing ride information

The highlight section allows users to track their total distance travelled and cost savings at a glance. This space also acts as a gateway for users to check out their monthly ride highlights.

Monthly metrics and achievements are highlighted, providing quick insights into performance. Users can also unlock and share milestone badges, celebrating accomplishments like top speed, peak efficiency, and more, which they enjoy sharing with others.

Making ride details digestible

Allowing users to access recent rides at a glance, complete with essential details like efficiency, distance, and duration.

For quick insights, users can view an overview, while enthusiasts have the option to dive deeper into a comprehensive ride summary for detailed analysis.

Making ride details digestible

Milestones with ride details: Designed for sharing milestones and achievements on social media.

One of the major observations about Ather ride enthusiasts was that they love sharing their ride information for some rides, in the previous app they used to take screenshots and share it in the community groups. We designed the sharable feature to standardise this flow and allow users to brag in style!!

Monthly highlights:

Introducing achievements:

Badges are designed for ride parameters like longest distance, highest speed etc.
